Tips for an affordable summer

Summer is upon us and that means holiday season, with people jetting off to foreign destinations or staying in one of the beautiful coastal resorts here in the UK.  Even after the holiday is booked there is still the cost of your clothes to consider; a recent study found that many British women spend more on the contents of their suitcase than they do on the holiday itself.  You could find yourself spending so much on ladies wear that you can’t afford to do everything you wanted to do once you arrive on holiday.  This article is going to look at holiday wardrobes on a shoestring.

The first tip is remember, you don’t need to wear only new clothes to have a great holiday.  Many women want to take only brand new clothes, neglecting items already owned.  If you feel your current wardrobe is too drab, liven it up with some cheap accessories from a bargain shop like Primark to get you into the holiday spirit.  Perhaps just buy a few special new items to wear for meals out on holiday and take the rest of your clothes from your existing wardrobe.

Tip two: look for clothes that multitask.  Nudes and pastels are in this summer so try to choose something you could wear during the day with a skirt and in the evening perhaps with trousers or jeans.  Pale colours are great for this because they go with almost anything.

Tip three: set a budget and stick to it.  Work out how much money you’d like to have to spend during the holiday and make sure your clothes budget doesn’t eat into that.  If you look for sales and consider cheaper shops than you might normally, you can save a fortune.  As many supermarkets and cheap shops base their styles on the designer items you can still have something fashionable for a much lower price.
