Jeans Styles: Repetition is Alive and Well

As with most continuing clothing preferences, the latest women’s jeans styles are a blend of both old and new.

Continuing comfort trends from prior years, distressed and stone-washed jeans return for another year. Skinny jeans, boot cut and straight leg denims continue on as well. The old, reoccurring trend is the return of high-waisted jeans.

Form fitted, this year’s jeans statement comes in the waist-high belt loops and waist band, previously seen several years ago as a major design change. These jeans look well with any style or material of blouse or shirt, from t-shirts to silk or satin.

Wear with the blouse loose for maximum comfort or tucked neatly in for a more compact appearance. Often worn with either no belt or a thin strap, the look can be individualised in any number of ways.

The loosely fitting, baggy jeans are back again this fashion cycle. Sometimes, the basic style is just cut a little wider or a little longer than traditional cuts. Other times, larger sizes are worn with flashy suspenders or eye-catching belts. Whether over-sized or simply a large cut, baggy jeans and jean shorts are here for quite some time.

The colour choices still run heavily toward traditional blue and black for many women. White is making a come-back, however, though the shades of whites can tend toward a hint of a yellow tint, making coordinating a more difficult task than just a few years ago.
